About Lizard Adventure
In 2011, Annette and J-P Eatock, teachers at the time, decided to take a risk and start up a small adventure company.
The ethos behind the company has always been simple — to share this incredible environment through the excitement of outdoor adventure, learning what matters while having a huge amount of fun along the way. There’s no better place to do that than the stunning Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, where secluded coves, varied conditions, and a strong sense of ‘old Cornwall’ make every experience truly special.
Over the years, that passion has grown into a highly respected operation. With over a decade of experience, J-P has become a National Trainer in Sea Kayak, Surf Kayak, and Stand Up Paddleboarding — sharing his knowledge with both clients and the wider industry, as well as training and advising other providers. At the heart of it all is a team that is incredibly proud, deeply knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about delivering high-quality, memorable experiences on the water.
As of 2026, Lizard Adventure has evolved into MAKAI — bringing together years of experience, local knowledge, and a shared love of the ocean under one unified brand. While the name has changed, the ethos, the people, and the commitment to delivering exceptional adventures remain exactly the same.
Why Lizard Adventure?
We specialise in family activities and have found that many families return year after year for more adventures.
We pride ourselves on getting the right balance between safety and fun. Whether it’s a family bonding experience you’re after, or maybe you’d rather leave them to it and get a few hours peace – we can cater for all your family’s needs.
We have a huge range of wetsuits and cagoules, plus plenty of small buoyancy aids and helmets, so hopefully younger children won’t get too cold!
All activities have a lower age limit of 8 years. Please call us for a chat about the activities if you are unsure if it is suitable for your child.
If you want a bespoke session with children younger than 8, please give us a ring to see what we can do.
The Bosses
J-P has been training instructors and working in the outdoors industry since 1989, is a BCU Kayaking Level 5 Sea and Surf Coach, is vice-chair of the National Coasteering Charter and is the technical advisor for many outdoor providers in the country, including TYF in Pembrokeshire where commercial coasteering originates.
Annette manages all the bookings and activities to make sure all this expertise is put to best use!
What makes us different…
We aim to provide an experience rather than an activity, which is why many customers return year after year. Choosing Lizard Adventure guarantees you a high quality adventure which increases your awareness of the natural environment and has limited impact on it.
We work very closely with the National Trust and use many of their sites. We have strong links with other organisations including Surfers Against Sewage, RSPB, Cornwall Seal Group and the local communities.
We pride ourselves on getting the right balance between safety and fun. Whether it’s a family bonding experience you’re after, or maybe you’d rather leave them to it and get a few hours peace – we can cater for all your family’s needs.
