Group or private lessons?

To help us to give you the best surfing experience possible, we offer both group or private lessons.

Group Surf Lessons :

Our most popular surf school option for beginner and improver surfers. We pride ourselves on small beginner surf lessons with unbeatable coach to student ratios. The average beginner lesson ratio is 1:4 with the maximum being 1:8. This guarantees more 1-to-1 coaching.

The 2-hour surf lessons are also staggered throughout the day, therefore minimising the number of people using our private facilities and reducing the crowds in the surf. The customer experience is our number 1 priority.

Private Surf Lessons  :

Our private lessons are the perfect option for families, parent and child, and groups of friends. All customers will also gain exclusive use of our facilities, including changing rooms and toilets.

The 2-hour private surf lesson packages are aimed at surfers looking to increase the speed of their learning curve, this is achieved by being able to create an environment that is tailored towards a surfers specific needs. We are proud to have a 99% success rate on getting you to your feet on your first lesson with no minimum or maximum age.

All equipment included

We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality surf equipment from market-leading sustainable brands. Our beginner surfboards come from a Cornish company ‘Swell’, a trusted local company, while our improver boards are sourced from ‘Soft Tech’, an internationally renowned leader in surf innovation. On arrival, you’ll be equipped with a warm wetsuit, rash vest, and a surfboard tailored to your size and skill level, ensuring the best possible experience on the waves. All you need to bring is a towel and swimsuit—we’ll take care of the rest!

At Gwithian Surf School, part of Lizard Adventure, we deliver top-tier surf instruction along the stunning Cornish coast. Based at Sunset Surf Café, our location provides the perfect launchpad for surfers of all levels.
